We at Varra Financial are part of a profession generally known as Financial Services.
To help distinguish us from many banks, mortgage lenders, and check cashing firms, we are Financial Advisors, meaning we offer information and guidance to folks who have questions about their money: how to make it and save it, how to grow it, how to use it, and sometimes, eventually, how to give it and pass it.
Clearly, advising clients about their finances can cover a lot of ground. Television, radio, and the Internet present very general, widely applicable information about investments. Magazines and books abound to help the "typical" household budget wisely, shop efficiently, plan for college or retirement, and so forth. Insurance agents can help assess the likelihood of and then protect against catastrophic losses to property and person. Investment managers select securities and financial products to manage profit. Accountants, attorneys, and financial analysts work together to help people manage their tax burdens or plan their legacies.
How we got started
Wayne Varra started our firm more than 50 years ago to provide this kind of advice and assistance to his family and community. At present, our advisors and administrative staff represent a century of experience. Over time we've come to have a clear idea about the focus of the services we provide: Varra Financial is a comprehensive Financial Planning advisory firm.
We put your values and desires first.
Simply put, we help you think about your personal goals and needs, clarify what financial steps need to occur to pursue or meet those goals and needs, and then lay out suitable strategies to take those steps efficiently. Notice that we don't start with a generalization about the best way to manage your money. Your values and desires are where we start, then we bring our experience, research, and calculations into a conversation with you to find choices that will help get you what you want.
It's a simple equation for us:
What about the "comprehensive" part of our mission as Financial Planners? Stay tuned for Part Two where we'll discuss that idea and show how it adds to the personal and practical value of our services to you.
